The Lumberjack: How long have you been playing football?

Stevon Thomas: I have been playing football since seventh grade, so that is nine years.

LJ: Did you play any other sports or positions growing up?

ST: I played soccer and baseball from first grade on. Soccer was my favorite sport before I started playing football. When I first started, I played offensive and defensive lineman, and then moved to running back and linebacker.

LJ: If you could change places with any athlete, who would it be?

ST: It would have to be Tiger Woods because he makes the most money.

LJ: If you had to choose one college football player to tackle as hard as you could, who would it be?

ST: Man, it would be Toby Gerhart, my old high school teammate. He is playing up at Stanford now and is on the Heisman watch. I have never tackled him ever since we have played together.

LJ: What scares you the most?

ST: Spiders. Definitely spiders. Especially here in Flagstaff; there are some scary ones.

LJ: Scarier than anything you see on the football field?

ST: Anything, yes. My worst fear is spiders (laughs).

LJ: Do you pattern your game after anyone in particular?

ST: Bob Sanders. He plays reckless and fearless. He is really undersized too, so that is who I try to mock the most.

LJ: Do you have any pregame rituals?

ST: I listen to a certain song called “Never Get It” before every game, and I say a prayer for all my relatives who have passed.

LJ: If you could meet one legendary football player, who would it be and what would you do?

ST: If I could meet one it would be Jack Tatum from the old Raiders team. They called him the “Assassin.” He used to go out and just hurt people on the field, and I would just want to see what his demeanor would be like off the field.

LJ: How are your Madden skills?

ST: Not very good. That stuff is like coaching a real game and I can’t do it. I am no good at Madden.

LJ: What team do you look forward to playing the most?

ST: Probably Montana, just because it is so intense every year when we play them, and I know they are our rivals now.

LJ: McDonalds or Burger King?

ST: McDonalds.

LJ: Megan Fox or Jessica Alba?

ST: Ooh, Jessica Alba, for sure.

LJ: College football playoffs or BCS format?

ST: College football playoffs, most definitely. They need to change that.

Jana Mays-Robinson (from previous JackChat): If you were not playing your sport, what would you be doing?

ST: If I was not playing football, I would definitely be back in California living at home still and most likely just working and living the normal life.

LJ: What do you want to ask the next athlete that does this JackChat?

ST: How honest were you about your answers?
