It is 10 p.m. and you are hungry after studying for a few hours. Where do you go? If you live on campus your choices are very limited. Pizza Hut and Mein Bowl just closed. Starbucks is open, but that’s not food. The Sweet Escape is open, but they sell ice cream not food. Gateway is open, but that is always full of other hungry students. In south campus, Peaks Grill is open which is great for students who live close to the Düb, but they probably have the same problem. Why aren’t more things open late in a college campus? Most people end up eating something less healthy because it is quicker than getting a whole meal at Gateway. We pay for our meals and yet we can’t eat anything after 10 p.m. unless we have food in our dorm or we want to wait. I guess there are vending machines, but then that would be money out of our own pocket instead of what we already paid for dining. It is a safer bet to go eat something on campus than to try off campus to find something that is open late. I don’t think it would hurt the NAU to have at least one other location open late for students who are hungry after studying for hours.
