Glenn Beck gets kicked from Britain
by Jason Hagerty on October 22, 2009 at 12:01 am
Glenn Beck is no stranger to saying outrageous things. Some might even argue he’s made a career out of it. Yet despite his inability to keep that hole on the front of his face shut, he continues to air on Fox News. It seems he might have finally crossed a line, at least as far as Fox News’ British audience is concerned.
After hearing Beck’s comment that Barack Obama is a racist, British supermarket chain Waitrose decided to take action. They removed all Fox News advertisements from their stores and pulled their company’s advertisements from the network itself, deeming the content as something with which they did not want to be associated. If only American companies would follow suit.
Waitrose has done something other companies in the United States are too afraid to do — take action. The kind of outrageous comments Beck and his associates make are outright ridiculous. The fact that mainstream America still hasn’t bothered to do something about it is not only astonishing, but disappointing.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m all for free speech. If Fox News and Glenn Beck want to hold a pow wow every evening to talk about how Obama is a racist, child-touching Nazi, that’s fine. But it’s time the businesses and supporters of Fox News start taking their own reputations into account.
To add further confusion to the matter, online supporters of Beck started creating websites devoted to boycotting any firm or business that pulls their ads from his show. That’s right, they’re boycotting a boycott. Is this really how badly things have become, America?
Maybe it’s just me, but this sounds like something you’d overhear at an elementary school playground.
“You’re dumb.”
“No you’re dumb!”
“No you’re dumber!”
No, the truth of the matter is we’re all dumber because of nonsense like this. Glenn Beck is going to continue to say outrageous things until someone calls him on it. And by “someone,” I don’t mean a supermarket chain in another country.
It’s time the companies and businesses that support Fox News take a stand and stop the network from making an ass of itself and them. Fox News is a business, and just like any other business, they speak the universal language of money.
Waitrose has the right idea here, folks. Shut off the money, and shut Glenn Beck’s mouth.

Liberals are pathetic. They’ll cry “free speech!” – until it’s someone they hate, then they’ll foam at the mouth and make all kinds of outrageous demands.
and to top it, ignore the initial point:

Anti-white obama: IN HIS OWN WORDS – via “Dreams from my Father, a Story of Race and Inheritance”
If you are so annoyed with him, dont listen. keep in mind many americans watch him because he is saying what they wont. He disagrees, you want him to shut up. When you disagreed you expect to be herd and called grass roots. bottom line. Let people talk and quit getting so annoyed. Its free speech, if you dont like it move to China.
You said it very well, disappointing for sure.
Engaging in “wrong thinking” because you don’t agree with it, are ya?
You must be a flaming Socialist who is offended, eh?
boo hoo hoo
“Yet despite his inability to keep that hole on the front of his face shut, he continues to air on Fox News.”
Speaking of Dumb and DUMBER… you do know, Jason, Glenn Beck is a Fox News COMMENTATOR?? That’s what he gets PAID for… speaking about current events??
You did know that, right?? Because you really made yourself sound like an idiot and I’m sure you are not THAT dumb, are you?
Yep.. and You just can’t stand it when someone doesn’t agree with “your Way of thinking”. Glenn beck, is just asking questions?? Why isn’t anyone answering those questions???? OH yea.. because those are “stupid questions” We’ll Please Answer the STUPID questions for us STUPID people that can’t figure this out.

Glenn does most of the crying, with the help of his Vapor rub, and when he’s done he laughs all the way to the bank at you patriotic Americans.
So, Jason… in your view it only “gets bad” when the second group of boycotters seeks to make their voice heard, eh? Pot or Kettle? Perhaps you should pick one.
Glenn Beck is a commentator, he offers an opinion. You can all chose to watch him or turn the channel, no one makes any one watch him. It is not up to you or anybody to decide for us what we can watch. If I want to watch him, it is my choice; if I want to watch paint dry, that is my choice. When will liberal idiots learn that they do not have to think for every one else, that we can have our own opinion.
I understand why you and the liberal loonies are afraid of Mr. Beck Jason. He and others like him are actually challenging your dear leader and Comrade Obama can not stand up to him. Here is an idea Jay, can I call you Jay, why don’t you dispute what Mr. Beck, prove him wrong? Rip apart the arguments he presents with facts and good counter argument?
Oh that’s right, you can’t do that, too much work for a bunch of slackers so you just need to shut him up and any one like him. What about the folks who listen to his shows, I am sure your progressive friends all ready have the cattle cars lined up to take care of the new filthy ‘undesirables’ who dirty up your new liberal utopia your dear leader envisions.
Did any of you saying Jason is anti-free speech actually READ what he wrote? He is supporting people taking action to not give money to people for saying things they disagree with. I am sure, however, that none of you are being at all hypocritical in your denouncement and would gladly give your money to people who get paid just to say how wonderful Obama is and how his bowel movements smell like cherry blossoms. Wait, I think that restricting the right of a company to not give money might itself be an evil socialist communist intrusion on the free market- but it should be fine, as long as that money is forced to go to someone we agree with.
Poor business practice by becomming political and pulling their ads. They are the ones losing, not fox. Stupidity seems to be a liberal trait. I am choosing not to support the businesses that pull ads.
Oh and Obama is in fact a racist and hangs out with racists. do your homework.
Did they do the same to all the lib commentators’ networks who called George Bush a Nazi and a murderer?
There are a few facts that went ignored by the author. First, Fox has a bigger audience than all other networks COMBINED! Glenn’s TV show trails only other Fox shows in viewership, and his radio show trails only two other conservative talk shows in audience. Obviously his general views (Maybe not every specific comment) are accepted and agreed with by a vast amount of Americans. “Shut off the money, and shut Glenn Beck’s Mouth.” Your statement illustrates the exact reason he is so successful. His shows earn money, because people want to hear what he has to say.
