This is the ASNAU Report, a new feature in The Lumberjack covering the Thursday evening meetings of the Associated Students of Northern Arizona University. This edtion of the report is from the meeting on Dec. 2
Club Recognition
Hospitality Entrepreneurs: will bring together students who want to start a business in hospitality, bring speakers to campus and improve hospitality students’ skills.
Northern Arizona Fun Times Association: will bring students together to participate in outdoor games and activities designed to teach team-building skills and relieve stress.
Students for Yoga/Meditation Club: will offer students the opportunity to practice yoga and meditation in a large and relaxing space.
Executive Reports
All of the items for the club headquarters have been purchased and will be arriving soon.
Chief of Staff Kathleen Templin is attempting to put together a meeting with those in charge of graduation to add an additional ceremony in May, due to repeated complaints by students. She is also planning to send out a “23” fee report on where the money goes.
The advertisement for the information technology specialist for the ASNAU website will be going out within the next two weeks.
Staff Reports
The special events committee is getting ready to place luminaries on campus and plan for the carnival in the spring semester.
The New Student Organization has set up an angel tree in the Union Point.
Members of the Arizona Students’ Association have signed up 18 teachers to use open-source textbooks, which are free online textbooks that come with textbook aides that students are able to purchase.
Senate Bills
SB 23-25: will give $2,000 for club headquarters to receive new mailboxes.
SB 23-26: will allocate $1,200 to fund Model United Nations.
SB 23-28: will allocate $1,500 to the NAU Conservatives to attend a conference in Washington D.C.
Open Access Funds
Criminal Justice Club: will bring speaker Pat McGinnis to speak to criminal justice majors and other students on campus.
Model United Nations: will need funding to participate in national Model UN conferences throughout the rest of the school year.
NAU Conservatives: will need funding to attend a conference in Washington D.C.
