PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Yavapai County authorities said Wednesday that a Flagstaff woman reported missing Monday has been found dead.

The body of 39-year-old Tanya Morris was located about 100 feet from where her shoes were recovered Tuesday.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says Morris’ body had been covered with snow and was not initially visible.

An extensive search for Morris began after her vehicle was located off southbound Interstate 17 at the overlook south of Munds Park.

Late Tuesday, Morris’ dog along with some of her clothing was located about 1.5 miles southwest of where her vehicle was found.

The exact cause of death is under investigation. Authorities said exposure to severe weather is likely a factor.
