Jan. 23
At 2:20 a.m., an officer observed a male subject with blood on his forehead walk into the lobby at McConnell Hall.
The officer approached the subject and asked him to sit on a couch. The officer noted a cut on the subject’s head along with blood and cuts on the knuckles of his fingers. The subject told the officer he had hit a wall. The officer had asked the subject if he needed medical attention when a resident assistant (RA) reported a broken mirror in a women’s restroom with blood all over the room. An additional RA told the officer the subject had been involved in an argument with his girlfriend prior to the officer’s arrival.
RAs locked the restroom, and a campus safety aide arrived to assist with taking photographs of the damage. An additional officer arrived to assist with the situation.
The officer asked the subject what had happened that night and noted an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. The subject proceeded to change the story regarding the cut on his head. He told the officer he had an argument with his girlfriend but could not remember being in the women’s restroom. He told the officer he had not been drinking. The officer continued to ask the subject questions regarding the situation, and the subject changed his story several times. The officer showed the subject the damage in the bathroom, and the subject told the officer he remembered arguing with his girlfriend in the restroom. The subject said his head and hands were bloody from hitting a brick wall in the hallway prior to entering the women’s restroom, and he remembered breaking the mirror with his hands. The subject told the officer he had been drinking and had shoved and pushed his girlfriend in the restroom.
The officer arrested the subject for criminal damage and minor consumption of alcohol. The subject supplied the officer with a breath test and registered a .045 blood alcohol content. The subject was transported to Coconino County Jail.
The officer received a report the subject had held his girlfriend in the restroom against her will and would not allow her to leave for 10 minutes. The subject received an additional charge of unlawful imprisonment.
The case is closed.
Jan. 24
At 3:49 a.m., two officers were dispatched to South Family Apartments for a possible domestic violence incident in progress in an apartment on campus.
The officers arrived to the scene and observed a male subject leaving the apartment. One of the officers approached the subject and asked him what had been going on prior to the officers’ arrival. The subject told the officer he had been arguing with his wife because she had been cheating on him. The subject said his children had told him their mother had been bringing another male to the house while the subject was working in Phoenix.
The subject told the officer the argument had not become physical, and they had tried to keep the noise level to a minimum because their children were sleeping. The officer noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from the subject. The subject told the officer he had consumed four beers prior to the argument with his wife. The additional officer provided information regarding the subject’s denial of access to the apartment issued Jan. 14. The subject told the officers he had been staying in the apartment since Jan. 18. The subject was arrested for trespassing in the first degree per domestic violence.
The case is closed.
