Raditude, Weezer’s seventh studio album, mixes the genres of rap, alternative rock and traditional Indian to make an album that surprisingly flows from beginning to end.

While Raditude’s effortless guitar tabs and catchy choruses sound familiar to Weezer’s Green Album and Red Album, it is the simplicity of the songs that makes the album so enjoyable to listen to.

The fourth track of the album, “Can’t Stop Partying,” breaks the traditional, simple sounds of Weezer with a techno-pop song that uses more synthesizers and beats than guitar. The song features Lil Wayne, which might throw fans into confusion and frustration, but the collaboration creates one of the catchiest songs on the entire album, due to Lil Wayne building toward the song’s climax, followed by Rivers Cuomo taking over at the peak.

The seventh track, “Love is the Answer,” uses a sitar while singer Amrita Sen belts out post-chorus verses in Hindi, which helps create a song similar to sounds of traditional Indian music. “Love is the Answer” is a pleasant twist to the album, helping Raditude step out of Weezer’s previous works.

Raditude has the charm of Weezer’s earlier music, but what sets it apart from their previous work is the band is able to experiment with different genres and still make the album sound like Weezer.
