Couples Retreat, the new romantic comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Malin Akerman, tells the story of four couples, each with their own unique set of problems.
One might think the inclusion of multiple couples provides a detailed account of the many types of relationships, but it does not.

Instead, it simply provides an excuse for Vaughn, Jason Bateman and Jon Favreau to share screen time together as three of the four husbands.
Thankfully, the movie provides its fair share of laughs. Vaughn plays his typical loveable giant, but the film’s biggest gags go to Favreau, who easily steals each scene he is in. Some may have forgotten his comedic roots since he took up directorial duties of the Iron Man franchise, but Couples Retreat easily reminds viewers of Favreau’s appeal as an actor.
While the film provides solid laughs courtesy of the many actors and actresses present, Couples Retreat is just too cliché to be considered a standout film. If you are looking for just another romantic comedy, Couples Retreat will be right up your alley. Those looking for something more, however, will be disappointed.
