Mika’s The Boy Who Knew Too Much is a glam rock-filled album trying to convey the message of being happy with who you are while dealing with what  life throws at you. The popular artist’s second album has a familiar vibe to his first album, Life in Cartoon Motion.

“We are Golden” is the first track and single of The Boy Who Knew Too Much. The song is filled with poppy melodies and Mika’s familiar octave changes in his voice every other line, which is nothing really different from his first album.

The Boy Who Knew Too Much continues to have a similar sound until the fifth track, “I See You.” From there, the entire album takes a step back to create a slower, laid-back sound with piano bars creating a more serious tone.

On the ninth track, “By the Time,” Imogen Heap joins Mika to create a very heartfelt dramatic song about waking up alone after a two-year relationship; the result is possibly the best song on the album.

While The Boy Who Knew Too Much is overall a fun album with a glam rock sound, it has moments when it sounds very similar to his first album Life in Cartoon Motion.
