Migraine-inducing industrial metal band Static-X has released another album, this time as a narcissistic tribute to the people who put up with them. Cult of Static is more violent, knucklehead metal for the masses, complete with the same riffs and hooks as their previous five records.

Listening to this album is like getting immolated, kicked in the teeth with an ice pick and shoved in a dryer. Surprisingly, many fans see this as a good thing. Static-X was created solely for manic moshpits and nothing else. If you like depth and meaningful music over repetitive lyrics, banshee screaming and cookie-cutter chord structures, then this album is not for you.

The anger-quartet’s first single, “Stingwray,” is a nod to lead singer Wayne Static’s new wife and former porn star Tera Wray and the Corvette Stingray she drives. Yeah, porn stars and cars are as deep as this album gets. Every other song is about being skinned alive, abandoned or going insane, which is exactly how this record will make you feel.

Even though these songs are short, they seem to go on forever, pulsing mindlessly and going nowhere. This begs the question: When will Static-X and their cult move on?

Dude, who pissed in your cornflakes? Why review an album of a band you so obviously hate? Your opinion can’t be taken seriously.
